The PGD Terracotta Planter is crafted by tribal artisans in the Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh using techniques passed down through generations. Each planter is hand-coiled from locally sourced river clay, sun-dried for 3โ€“5 days, and then low-fired in a traditional open kiln. The geometric carvings are pressed into the wet clay by hand using bamboo tools โ€” no two planters carry identical patterns. The natural terracotta finish is left unglazed, allowing the clay to breathe โ€” which is actually beneficial for plant roots. At 22cm tall with an 18cm opening, it suits medium houseplants, herbs, or succulents. Popular with garden centres, eco-conscious homeware brands, and hospitality projects.
